Question by : my parents don't understand math please help me?
So, you're planning a pumpkin patch?

Imagine that you've found the perfect spot in your yard or neighborhood.
You've dug up all the sod and prepared the soil in a square area.
You've even planted the pumpkin seeds. But you're not done yet!

1) You've been advised to cover the area with mulch, to prevent weeds. It takes 6 bags of mulch to cover the entire area. On the back of the bag it says 3 bags = 24 square feet. How many square feet is the area of the pumpkin patch?

Answer: ___________ square feet
Explanation: (Show all of your work.)

2) Approximate the side length of the square pumpkin patch to the nearest foot.

Answer: ____________ feet
Explanation: (Show all of your work.)

3) You plan to lay down a path of "paver" stones across one of the diagonals of the patch, so that you can easily walk into the garden. In order to get the correct amount of stones, you need to know the length of the path. Make a sketch of the pumpkin patch, with the path on a diagonal. Use mathematics to determine the length of the walking path to the nearest foot.

Answer: ____________ feet
Explanation: (Show all of your work.)

4) When you go to the store with your measurements, you find out that the dimensions of the paver stones are given in centimeters. Convert the length of the walking path from feet to centimeters. Use the following conversion factors: 1 ft = 12 in. and 1 in. ≈ 2 cm

Answer: ________feet ≈ ________ cm
Explanation: (Show all of your work.)

5) If you are going to lay the paver stones end to end, and each one is 2 cm long, how many paver stones do you need for the walking path?

Will help with one of them.

(1) 3 bags equals 24 sq ft, so 6 bags has to be twice that, which is 48 sq ft.

    You do your own homework ...once you learn the 4 basic operations.

    Go back to 3rd grade and see if you can pass it this time.

    I'll do one of them.

    1) 3 bags = 24 sq. ft.
    6 bags = x

    3 / 24 = 6 / x
    solving this yields:

    3x = 24*6
    3x = 144
    x = 48
